How to choose an AI visibility (AEO / GEO) tool for a small business

AEO, GEO, AI visibility: different names for one job. You want to know if AI names your company when shoppers ask, and what to fix if it doesn’t. There are many tools. Here is how to pick one without paying for things you don’t need.

Which AIs matter to you?

Start with where your shoppers ask. Many use ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. In Korea, many also see Naver’s AI briefing. Pick a tool that checks the places your shoppers really use.

Check with questions that do not say your name. Asking “What does my company do?” almost always gets your name back. Shoppers ask “What is a good tool for this?”, and that is the answer you need to be in.

Six questions to ask any tool

  1. Does it ask each question more than once? AI answers change on their own about 1 time in 10. One answer is a dice roll.
  2. Does it show which websites the AI read? Those pages decide who gets named. You need to see them to know what to fix.
  3. Does it tell “the AI gave no answer” apart from “the AI did not name you”? Mixing them up makes your numbers look worse or better than they are.
  4. Does it tell you what to fix, on which page? A score alone changes nothing.
  5. After you fix something, does it check again under the same conditions? Otherwise you can’t compare before and after.
  6. Does the price fit a small team? Daily checks across hundreds of questions cost a lot. Most small companies need 10 to 20 questions, checked monthly and after each fix.

Where does FwdLink fit?

FwdLink checks OpenAI, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, asks every question twice and shows the websites each answer read. Failed answers are counted apart from “not named”.

The first check is free (up to 10 questions). The Improvement plan is $99/month for 1 brand and up to 20 questions: monthly checks, re-checks 2 and 4 weeks after each fix, three tasks that say what to fix and where, and drafts written from facts you confirm. It works in Korean and English.

FwdLink does not check Naver’s AI briefing. If Naver matters most to you, look at a tool that checks it too.
