Glossary
The jargon, once, in plain words.
Everywhere else on this site we use ordinary words. This page exists so you can match them to the terms you will hear elsewhere.
- GEO, AEO, LLM SEO, answer engine optimisation
- Different names for getting a company named in AI answers. We call it counting who gets named, because that is all we can actually measure.
- AI visibility
- How often an AI answer names a company. On this site it is a count out of 450 answers a week, not a score.
- Mention
- An answer names the company. It can be positive, neutral or negative.
- Citation
- An answer links a company’s own site. We call it a link. It is not a visit.
- Prompt
- What somebody types into an AI. We call it a question.
- API
- A way for software to ask an AI directly, without the chat app. It is how we ask the same 50 questions the same way every week.
- Baseline
- The first week’s counts, before anything is changed. We call it the first count.
- Discovery query
- A question that does not name any company. Thirty of our 50 are these.
- Branded query
- A question that names a company. Twenty of our 50 are these.
- Share of voice
- How often you are named compared with competitors. We show the counts rather than a single share number.
- Hallucination
- An AI stating something that is not true. On this site: an answer getting a fact wrong.
- Attribution
- Deciding what caused a result. We do not claim a page change caused a change in the counts.
Start with three questions
Send three questions your buyers would type into an AI.
We run them and send back what each service answered. If it is not a fit, we will say so.
Send three buyer questions
It costs nothing, and you can take your time deciding afterward.
