How to check if ChatGPT mentions your company (we tried it on ourselves)

How do I check for free?

1. Write down 5 questions a shopper would ask, without your company’s name. For example: “What tool is good for checking if AI mentions my brand?”
2. Add 2 or 3 questions with your name in them, like “What does [your company] do?” and “How much does it cost?”.
3. Ask each question to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. Ask each one twice. AI answers change on their own about 1 time in 10, so one answer is not enough.
4. For every answer, write down four things: Did it say your name? Did it link to your website? Which companies did it name instead? Which websites did it read?

What happened when we checked ourselves?

On 2 November 2026 we asked 8 questions in Korean, to 4 AIs, twice each. 63 answers came back (one was empty).

When the question had our name in it, AI named FwdLink 22 times out of 24.

When the question did not have our name, AI named FwdLink 0 times out of 39. It named other tools instead. To pick them, it read comparison posts and how-to guides on other companies’ blogs.

Claude and Perplexity also mixed us up. They thought FwdLink was the FWD Link insurance portal in Thailand, or the FWDLink photo app from the US.

What are we fixing?

First, the name. Our About page now says clearly who we are: FwdLink (fwdlink.io), an AI search visibility service from Busan, South Korea. Not the insurance portal, not the photo app.

Second, answers. AI picks tools from pages that answer the shopper’s question directly. We had none. This post is the first one. The next is a guide to choosing an AI visibility tool.

Third, we will check again with the same questions 2 and 4 weeks after these changes, and write down what changed.
